Winter has struck hard in the northeast, but keeping your car clean isn’t an impossible task. All you need to do is think smart and take the proper precautions. At Tom Hodges Mitsubishi, we know of a few ways to maintain a clean car in winter.
Wash your car
Washing your car in winter can be a tricky thing, especially when the temperatures aren’t too forgiving. When the weather steps above 40 degrees, however, there’s no excuse not to head to the car wash. Cleaning off the road salt, dirt, and other debris as often as possible will help preserve your vehicle’s paint for years to come.
Watch where you park
Ideally, you’ll want to park your car in a garage or another enclosure to protect it from the elements. That isn’t always an option though, which makes it important to watch where you park during winter. If it’s possible, avoid parking in places where water, ice, and snow can accumulate. Keeping your car out of the elements can extend the life of your car’s clear coat as well as help keep rust away.
Rubber floor mats
Keeping your car’s interior clean is just as important as making sure you get all the salt, dirt, and other road debris off the exterior. Rubber floor mats are the perfect way to protect your carpet. Ridges help keep melting snow contained and off the floor of your vehicle. Best of all, a set of rubber floor mats is fairly cheap when compared to detailing your car after winter.
