One of Mitsubishi’s most popular models is about to get a major redesign. The next-gen 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV is expected to boast a new design, a roomier interior, and perhaps even an eco-friendly hybrid option.
Mitsubishi has kept a tight lid on any details regarding the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander redesign, but we do have some clues about what it might look like. Recent spy photos indicate that the front end and lighting will share similarities with the Engelberg Tourer concept, an advanced plug-in hybrid SUV introduced earlier this year at the Geneva International Motor Show.
The 2021 Outlander is also likely to increase in size and interior space, making its three-row layout even more comfortable. Under the hood, the Outlander could get a more powerful version of the engine carried by the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. A plug-in hybrid version based on the Engelberg Tourer — and featuring 43 miles of electric-only range — is a possibility as well.
All our questions should be answered by next spring, as Mitsubishi is expected to unveil the 2021 Outlander at either the Geneva Auto Show or the New York International Auto Show. And by next fall, you should be able to test-drive the new Outlander right here at Tom Hodges Mitsubishi. In the meantime, check out the current Outlander we have in stock.
