Earlier this month, Mitsubishi unveiled the 2020 Mitsubishi ASX. Known as the Outlander Sport in the American market, this new ASX is giving us something we’ve been waiting for a while now – a look at what the next-generation Outlander Sport will entail.
For the 2020 model year, the ASX has undergone a design change, modeling itself after the new design language that has been seen recently in the Eclipse Cross and the new Outlander. It has a sleeker front end that features more sculpted lines, helping the vehicle stand out on the road. Mitsubishi has also added a new line to the sides of the ASX, which adds a touch of sportiness that the vehicle was missing before.
Inside, the vehicle has only seen some slight changes, including a new eight-inch touchscreen for its infotainment system and a slightly more rectangular design. The ASX can also now store USB drives when it’s stationary, which is an added benefit for many.
While we don’t know what the powertrain will be when the ASX becomes the Outlander Sport here in the United States, we do know that the ASX model will have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is mated to either a five-speed manual or a Continuously Variable Transmission.
Mitsubishi is expected to release more information about the US-based Outlander Sport soon, so make sure you keep an eye out. For more information about the current Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, contact us at Tom Hodges Mitsubishi.
